The Happiest of Holiday Greetings

God Jul and Merry Christmas!

We sincerely hope your Christmas and Jul was a day filled with love, family and loved ones, great blessings and a wonderful meal including hanskringler.

This holiday season was exceptionally busy ~ with nationwide shipping to points all over the country, and many local deliveries and holiday fairs.

New Year's Day is the perfect day to awaken to fresh-brewed gourmet coffee, and of course, hanskringler.  Local deliveries will made no later then Thursday, December 30th.

Ten T'ousand Svedes

Ten T’ousand Svedes ran tru da veeds
Chased by vun Norvegian
Ten t’ousand more ran to da shore
In da battle of Copenhagen.

Vay, vay back in history
Back ven da vorld vas new
Norvegians searched all over
To find some snoose to chew.

Dey fished for Lutefisk and Torsk
It helped to make dem strong
And you and me, ve know a Norsk
Cannot do nutting wrong.

But Svedes and Danes were envious
Of Viking trips and raids
Da Viking shields and helmet horns
Made all dose folks afraid.

T’roughout da world da Vikings sailed
To Ireland and to France

Send Us Your Link or Event

We have a pet peeve ~ we find it difficult to learn about Scandinavian and Scandinavian-American Events in our Region.

We want to change that ~ so ~ the following is our proposal:  Send us your link to your website ~ and/our event info ~ and we will gladly post it on our website.

We naturally appreciate reciprocation on your side.

We need each other ~ so let's partner up and together, keep our roots strong.
This will certainly assist in growing our businesses ~ growing memberships in our lodges ~ and as a valuable resource to our communities ~ keep us visible for those interested in exploring and/or embracing their heritage.

Kringler Folktale

Long ago in the land of vikings and trolls

In the kongelig fylke known as Valdres

The most famous of all the gnomes

was known as the Beitogubben.

He lived in the skog

On the edge of the fjell

And only came out

When darkness fell

Hans met him one dark cold night

In the vinter

When there is no light

And the gubben said to Hans

"don't be afraid I am a nice gammel troll

but I get moody in the darkness of vinter...

in exchange for your baked kringle

Viking Re-Enactment Fest

WOW ~ We just had a whirlwind weekend in Fairfield, CT ~ at the exciting VIking Re-Enactment Fest at the Scandinavian Club ~ Kudos to Carol Skog and her fabulous team of volunteers ~ for the Planning and Execution of this amazing event.

As a vendor, we were happy with the turnout ~ we were happy to see old friends and aquaintances ~ while building relationships with new customers and making new friends.

We also converted "a few" Swedes to embrace the Norwegian tradition of Norwegian "vafler" with Sour Cream and Strawberry Jam ~ LOL ~ although we ensured we were geared up with Whipped Cream today for the "non-converts".
